Als Traveller mit vielen Reiseplänen hat man nicht soviel Zeit, sich länger an einem Ort niederzulassen. Deshalb sind Jobs von kurzer Dauer die beliebtesten Backpacker-Jobs, die zwischen den road trips etwas die Reisekasse aufbessern.

Hostel "Work for Stay"
Viele Backpacker lassen sich zuerst in einem Hostel nieder, bis sie alle Formalitäten erledigt haben und bis sie eine eigene Bleibe gefunden haben. Einige Hostels bieten WORK FOR STAY an, wo man ein paar Stunden im Hostel aushilft und im Gegenzug eine Übernachtung bekommt. Eine gute Überbrückung bis man einen Job gefunden hat. Fragt im Hostel nach.
Food and Hospitality
Die Food and Hospitality industry ist da die richtige Branche für alle Backpacker. In Restaurants, Bars und Cafés und Hotels in ganz Kanada kann man Jobs finden. Die einfachste Methode ist, die Läden nacheinander abzuklappern und die Resumés persönlich zu verteilen.
Bartender, Dishwasher, Kitchen Helper Waitress oder Waiter, Hotel Front Desk, Housekeeper oder Fast Food Worker sind die Jobs mit hoher Fluktuation wo Mitarbeiter beinahe wöchentlich kommen und gehen.

In den Ski-Gebieten

Allgemeine Farm Worker
Hauptjobs sind Bodenvorbereitung, Pflanzen, Säen, Jäten, Gießen, Pflücken, Waschen, Verpacken, Bewässern
Meistens wird die Unterkunft und drei Essen am Tag gestellt.

Diese drei Hauptseiten listen viele wwoof-Farmen auf, und manche Jobs sind auch bezahlte Jobs:
Fruit Picking
Im Okanagan Valley in Britisch Columbia gibt es viele Obstfarmen und Weinberge, die Hilfe bei der Ernte brauchen. Es werden Äpfel, Birnen, Pfirsiche, Aprikosen, Kirschen und Pflaumen angebaut. Oder die Blueberry Farmen in der Nähe von Vancouver, wo man Blaubeeren, Erdbeeren, Himbeeren erntet.

Diese Art von Jobs werden normalerweise pro Kilo oder pro Korb bezahlt, und man kann gutes Geld machen (im Durchschnitt $200 pro Tag), wenn man fleißig ist.
Richtige bezahlte Farmarbeit
Wenn du harte Farmarbeit nicht scheust, wo du auch viele Stunden arbeiten musst, aber gut Geld verdienen möchtest, ist eine Arbeit auf einer Farm eine Option. Viele Farmen in Kanada suchen Hilfe bei der Aussaat und Ernte.
Man arbeitet mit Traktoren, Mähdreschern und noch mehr und die Arbeitsstunden sind dann meistens 12 Stunden am Tag. Bei vielen Farmen bekommt man kostenlos Logis und 3 Mahlzeiten am Tag gestellt. Temp Agencies
Die unter den Backpackern meist bekannte Temp Agency ist Pristine Labour in Vancouver. Man arbeitet auf dem Bau und man kann seine Zeit einteilen wann man arbeiten will/kann. Der Lohn startet dort bei $22 pro Stunde (Stand März 2024). Viele Traveller arbeiten dort ein paar Wochen, bis sie einen richtigen Job gefunden haben.

​​Tree Planter
Eine der schwierigsten Jobs für Backpacker. Man wird mitten im Nirgendwo ausgesetzt, um Wälder neu zu pflanzen. Es ist eine knochenharte, körperlich anstrengende Arbeit in jeder Witterung, und wird von Moskitos zerstochen und sonstigem Krabbeltier gebissen, aber wegen der Bezahlung lohnt es sich, ein paar Wochen durchzuhalten. Tree planters werden pro gepflanztem Stück bezahlt. Erfahrene Pflanzer verdienen $800 bis $1200 pro Woche und neue Pflanzer $600 bis $1000 pro Woche.

JOB OPPORTUNITY TREE PLANTING
Hi y'all, I am looking for a few more people to fill up my crew for the upcoming tree planting season. I’m running an 18 pack and I have a few spots left to fill. The job entails hard manual labor, while living in remote areas of the BC wilderness with a strong community of people in their early 20s. All food and accommodation is paid for throughout the summer.
*All applicants must be able to work in Canada and have a valid canadian SIN number*
Ideal applicants are between 18-25 years old, without previous injury, and are physically and mentally willing and able to learn. It is a hard and demanding job, but it can be very rewarding and fun.
Company: Apex Reforestation
Contract date: May 2nd – August 11th All applicants must be available to work for the entire duration of the contract.
Pay:
- Piece rate (production based per tree planted). Expect to plant 2,000+ trees a day. I would hope for most first year planters to make between $15,000 - $30,000 in their first summer.
- Tree price: nothing lower than 14.5 cents. Average 16 – 20 cents. Expect to make $250- $600+ a day depending on production.
- $400 bonus for completing the first 2 weeks
- 4% vacation + 4 % stat pay added on top of tree price. 18 cents = 19.44 cents.
- Proportion of pay is untaxable.
Work Schedule:
- We work 3 and 1’s. 3 days on, 1 day off.
- Occasionally we will have a 4 or 5 day shift while finishing off a contract.
- Between contracts, while moving camps, we will get 2 to 3 days off.
Camp:
- No camp costs.
- Great food provided in bush camp. Typically 3 cooks per camp. Buffet style. Breakfast, pack a lunch, and dinner.
- Camp size is typically around 100 people.
- $20 per day allowance for food if working out of motels.
Location:
- All work will be in Interior British Columbia.
- Expect to start in Cache Creek, and move north as the season progresses. We expect to finish the season off in Mackenzie.
- Our camp will move locations 4 or 5 times throughout the season.
This will be my sixth year working for Apex Reforestation. I have consistently been a top production planter and run a top production crew. I am looking for motivated people that will work hard throughout the season and provide a positive atmosphere as both are critical to having a successful season. This job is equally lucrative for both girls and guys and we are hoping to have a 50/50 gender ratio.
